Unit 6  Do you like bananas ?

The First Period

 

Teaching Aims: 1. Learn some food names

             2. Enable students to listen to and talk about what they like and don’t like.

             3. Enable students to talk about others like or dislike.

Vocabulary: like, bananas, humburger, ice cream, pear, broccoli, strawberry, French fries, salad, tomato, orange.

Target languages: Do you like……?

               Yes, I do. I like……

               No, I don’t. I don’t like……

               He/She likes…     He/ She doesn’t like……

Teaching points: Countable nouns and uncountable nouns.

Teaching procedures and ways:

 

Step 1. Revision and Lead-in

1.       Greet the class

2.       In this procedure, review the target languages in unit 5.

T: Last unit, we learned some sports things: basketballs,wolleyballs, baseball and so on.

  Who can answer my questions? Do you have a basketball?

Ask several students to answer the questions.

3.       T ask individual student: Do you have a basketball?

S:Yes, I do./No, I don’t.

T: Do you like basketballs? Like, 喜欢. 喜欢吗?

S: Yes, I do./No, I don’t.

     Let students say after the teacher:

        I like English/ basketball/ my father/ my friend/…

       T: Do you like English?

       S: Yes, I do. I like English./ No, I don’t like English.

     Let students do chain work, ask and answer.

 

 Step 2. Task1 Learn some food names

      1T: Today we’re talking about food. Food is something we eat every day ( teacher do guestures). First, let’s learn some food names.

       Show pictures and let students read after the teacher:

         T: A hamburger. Three hamburgers.  Ss: A hamburger. Three hamburgers.

       Let students pay attention to plural form.

      2. Devide students into two groups, let them say out other food names they know.

       T: Do you know other food names? Let’s have a competition, OK?

 

Step 3. Task2 Find friends

      T: In oru lidr, there are some things we can count. For example, one banana, two bananas, three bananas.We call them countable nouns. And some things we can’t count, we call them uncountable nouns. Look at these food, which words are countable nouns, which words are uncountable nouns?

      Show pictures of food, let students devide them into countbale nouns and uncountable nouns.

 

Step 4. Grammar

      Show some sentences, T: What can you find from these sentences?

         I like bananas.            I don’t like pears.
I like hamburgers.         I don’t like oranges.
I like tomatoes.           I like French fries.

       S:Like 后的名词都是复数形式,加了s或者是es.

       Show other sentences, T : What can you find from these sentences?

          I like broccoli.
I like ice cream.
I don’t like salad.

       S: Like 后用的是不可数名词

       T: So we should add plural countable nouns and uncountable nouns after “like”.

       Write “ like+可数名词的复数或不可数名词” on the blackboard.

 

Step 5. Task3 Listening Practise

     1. T: Now, listen to the tape and fill in the blanks.

       Play the tape once and ask three students fill in the blanks.

     2. Let students read the conversations.

 

Step 6. Task4 Pairwork

1.       Show some pictures of food : Do you like these food? Some students say”Yes”,somestudents say “No” . Please work in pairs, talk about what you like or dislike.

Show target languages on the blackboard:

A: Do you like……?

               B: Yes, I do. I like……

                 No, I don’t. I don’t like……

 

2.       Let students act the conversations.

 

Step 7. Chant

      1. T ask a student: I like bananas, what about you?

        S1: I like broccoli, but I don’t like salad.

        T ask other students: I like bananas, what about S1?

        Ss: He likes broccoli, but he doesn’t like salad.

      2. T: Let’s have a chant !

        Ss: That sounds good!

      Show the chant, and the first time let Ss do after the teacher, the second time let Ss do themselves.

 

Step 8. Task5 Food survey

1.       T: Next Sunday is my birthday, I will hold a birthday party at home. Do you like   birthday parties? Do you like birthday cakes? But I don’t know what you like or dislike, please work in groups, ask and answer, fill in the blanks. At last, the group leader tell us your members’ like or dislike.

2.       Give Ss some minutes to do the survey.

3.       Report their survey.

Step 10. Homework

Ask your family members’ like or dislike, and write a passage.

 

课后反思:

1.       本节课其一的任务是学习食物的名称, 这一部分我让学生分小组在课前找出他们所知道的食物的名称, 上课进行比赛, 可以说是一个课前预习, 也是课前进行的小组活动. 这样学生不仅自学了课本上的单词, 还扩展了自己的词汇量.

2.       最后一部分我发现大部分学生喜欢吃冰激凌,汉堡包等快餐, 这时我应对他们提出建议: Fruits and vegetables are good for your health, so you should eat more fruits and vegetables. 这样会起到更好的效果.
