Teaching Steps:
Step1.Warm-up
Teacher says: “Hello ! Boys and girls!”
Students answer: “Hello! Teacher!”
Teacher asks students: “I love animals very much.What about you? Do you love animals?”
Students answer “Yes!”
Then teacher asks: “What animals do you like?”Students say what animals they like,if say the animal is today’s new word. The teacher take this animal’s card out. Thereby educe today’s new words.
Step 2.Presentation
Teacher says: “Do you know a farm? There are many animals in the farm. Let’s have a look!” Then the teacher fixs a farm picture on the blackboard, and says “look! new words in the blackboard.
Then students read the new words There are so many animals.What can you see?” Students can answer it use Chinese. And with the answer teacher writes these with teacher several times.Make sure the students can read new words accurately and the new words’ plurality.
And ask several students read the words what the teacher chooses in the picture.
Learn the new sentence. “What are they? They are﹍ .”Then teacher asks students this question,and answered“They are cows/horses/sheep/goats and so on.”
Teacher would emphasize“sheep”singular and plurality are same.
Then teacher play tape-recorder of the text to students.Once listen and the second time read with the tape.
Step 3.Practice and Game
Teacher takes cards to students and choose students say the sentences.
It’s a cow. They are cows.
It’s a sheep. They are sheep.
It’s a hen. They are hens.
It’s a goat. They are goats.
It’s a lamb. They are lambs.
It’s a horse. They are horses.
Teacher find a student come to the front and teacher let him choose a card, but other students don’t see the card and make others guess . eg: “Are they horses?” the student says “No, they aren’t”.Or “Yes, they are.”If one student guesses right and she will choose card let other students guess.(This practice will make students get the good hang of new words and new sentence.)
Make a employment
Teacher acts as an old farming who is working hard and difficultly. So he needs an assistant to help him. Then imagine you are an employee and you go to the farm. The old farmer will ask you some questions:
1. Can you feed the hens?
2. Can you ride a horse?
3. Can you milk a cow?
4. Can you shear a sheep?
5. Can you hold a lamb?
(from Let’s do. Teacher asks and acts, let students understand them. At last listen to the tape and chant.)
[Purpose: From the task-based learning approach teacher design a task “ Employment” and let students understand the contest from Let’s do. This is a real language surrounding students can master them well.]
Step 4.Conclusion
At the end teacher play the tape-recorder of a music named “Mary Has a Little Lamb” twice. Teacher lets students to learn sing the song. And after that , students sing the song with teacher.

Practice today’s new words and sentence several times with your partner. And sing the new song to your parents.
